Why does
Senku exist?
Senku was built by SJ Tech Solutions — a small New Jersey team that runs a real painting contractor business and a web agency for trade clients. We were tired of software written for SaaS press releases instead of for the truck bed. So we built the one we wished we had.
HOW DID
SENKU START?
In 2024 the founder of Perfect Finish Painters — a working painting and drywall contractor in Atlantic County, NJ — spent another evening copy-pasting estimates between a spreadsheet, a customer portal that did not work on mobile, an SMS forwarding service, and three separate payment links. The pattern was obvious: contractor software was either written by people who had never held a paint brush, or priced like it was sold to enterprise GCs.
Solo and small-crew contractors got the worst of both worlds: too much UI for the job, too little for the way they actually worked. Estimates by SMS. Stripe and Venmo in the same flow. Quick customer-portal access without a login. AI that helps draft line items instead of replacing the human pricing call. None of that was sitting in a single product.
So SJ Tech Solutions LLC — the same shop that builds contractor websites — started building one. The first tenant was the founder’s own painting business. Estimates went out. Money came in. The roadmap was driven by what hurt that week.
Senku has been adding features under load ever since — tenant-Stripe payments, the customer portal, the AI estimate generator, time tracking with the worker kiosk, the lead-capture quiz, multi-tier feature gating, the inbound-email reply thread. Every one of those came out of a real job, not a roadmap deck.
WHAT DOES
SENKU STAND FOR?
Four principles drive the product. We refer back to them when a feature decision is contested, and we ship against them in the order shown.
Built in the truck bed
Senku is built by people who actually run trade businesses. Every feature in this app exists because we hit a problem on a real job, on a real day, and refused to live with it.
Owner-first, not investor-first
We are a small bootstrapped team. There is no venture capital riding the roadmap. Features ship when contractors need them, not when a quarterly metric needs them.
Your data stays yours
Customer info you upload is yours. We do not sell it. We do not train AI on it. You can export to CSV or PDF anytime. Cancel and your data leaves with you.
Pricing that respects solo crews
A free plan that actually does something. Paid tiers that start at $15/mo — not $59. We charge less because we run the same kind of business and know what the budget actually looks like.
WHO IS
BUILDING THIS?
Senku is a product of SJ Tech Solutions LLC, a New Jersey company that builds and operates software for trade contractors. The founder runs Perfect Finish Painters — the same business that uses Senku in production every day — and previously shipped contractor websites under the SJ Tech brand.
Engineering is small and intentional. Product decisions come from the field, not from a board. When we need to talk to a customer, we pick up the phone — the same phone that takes calls about kitchen-repaint estimates.
